Mission
The mission of Pinecrest Athletics is to challenge and enable each athlete to fulfill his athletic potential and strengthen his character. We want to maximize the God-given talent of each athlete, and we want to build virtue. We want our athletes to discover how to push themselves to achieve their personal best. Part of becoming the best they can be involves virtue development. Virtues such as, courage, humility, and charity can be forged through athletic competition.
Core Values
We accomplish this mission primarily through the living out of our athletic motto: Our Best To Christ or OBTC. This motto reminds us what Christ expects – our best at all times. At the same time, it is the “secret” to real success in sport and life. OBTC also encapsulates our four core values, solidarity, excellence, servant leadership, and evangelization. This is what Pinecrest Athletics is all about.
O: Solidarity means we are united and working together to achieve a particular goal. Our teams stand-out because of their teamwork and unity, but more importantly, our program stands out because our parents, our coaches, and our athletes collaborate to bring out the best in each athlete.
B: Excellence is a constant striving to be the best athletic program around. We want to be first-class. This means our coaches are professionals and master teachers, our athletes are hard-working, welltrained, committed, highly skilled, and courageous, and our parents are positive and supportive.
T: Servant leadership is about leading through service to others. We have a “pass first” mentality. Our coaches, athletes, and parents alike think of others first and are eager to serve others and go outside of themselves. Great unity, teamwork, and morale are developed when each member of the team is focused on others. This style of leadership is humble, generous, and Christ-like.
C: Evangelization means we bring the light of Christ to others through the way we compete. We compete hard, and we compete with sportsmanship and class. Our athletes show a respect for each other, their opponents, the coaches, officials and spectators. Our effort and our class distinguish us and preach the good news of Christ.
